[Waterloo] Tech Share ~ A Taste of Raspberry Pi
Raspberry Pi is a very small single-board computer, developed as a low-cost system to teach computer programming, and has been making a splash in tech communities around the world. Our guest, Judi McCuaig, Associate Professor, University of Guelph, will share why this little device has such an impact and will walk us through firing up a few that she’ll share, giving us a taste.

[Waterloo] Your Invitation to Pub Night: Embracing Diversity
At WPT, we inspire, support, elevate and empower women in technology. Stepping back, we see that women and technology are slices of larger pies: diversity and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). People of all genders, races, backgrounds, abilities, ages and means are needed in STEM to ensure that our local and national economies remain viable.
At this month’s Pub Night in Waterloo, Ontario, we welcome two groups who absolutely embrace diversity and who will share their stories:
- Stephanie Rozek (@srozek, @AvocadoDog) and Terre Chartand (@TerreChartrand) are leading forces behind hackademy.ca, a social venture startup that aims to expose and teach technology to people with a variety of backgrounds.
- Jamie Burton (@dolphinvp) is Vice President, Corporate Development, at Dolphin Digital Technologies, a company which has diversity indelibly engraved in its core values.
