[Ottawa] Panel Nov 1: Embracing and creating personal change

This year’s theme is Changing the Landscape. Our first panel will focus on change at a personal level.

Change is an inevitable part of every woman’s career. Sometimes change comes by surprise (corporate restructuring), sometimes change is planned (pregnancy), and sometimes change is needed (stalled in a job). We have invited three inspiring speakers to talk about their experiences with change. We will look at key skills to survive and thrive when change happens. How to create a strong brand to get the opportunities you want, how to build up your interview skills, how to build your network.

Our speakers are:
Michaela Alexis – President, Grade A Digital
Anastasia Valentine – Chief Marketing Officer, Versature
Robin McIntyre – Global IT Services Executive

Panelist Bios

Michaela Alexis
Michaela graduated from Carleton University with Bachelor of Arts degree (with distinctions) with a major in legal studies, and a minor in psychology. Michaela currently works as the President of Grade A Digital, a Social Media Management Agency in Ottawa, and has thrived in the content marketing community, successfully managing over 100 brands in the past 8 years.

In March 2016, Michaela’s article about landing her dream job went viral on LinkedIn. Since then, she has replicated her viral success with multiple articles about her experiences in the business world. Recently, her article, “It’s Called a Life not a Life Sentence”, was picked by CNBC, and has amassed over 10,000 shares, and 130,000+ reads. Since then, Michaela’s articles have been featured and published in CNBC, MSN Money, Success.com, Mashable, Marketing Profs, Inc. Magazine, Yahoo Finance, The Muse, PR Daily, and more. Michaela recently became a contributor for Inc. Arabia.

Armed with just a tiny dry erase board and her writing skills, Michaela has gained over 70,000 LinkedIn followers in the past year, garnering over half a million views on photo updates that bravely document her career journey.

In Ottawa, Michaela currently sits on the advisory committee for the Ottawa Network for Education, and works as a Community Connector for the Ottawa Community Immigrant Services. She regularly speaks at high schools and colleges, sharing her advice on networking and the power of personal branding in today’s digital landscape. Her greatest goal is to equip students with the advice and knowledge that they need to succeed, and model by example.

Anastasia Valentine
Anastasia Valentine is the Chief Marketing Officer at Versature leading the marketing and sales organizations. She is an award-winning product strategist and brings a wealth of experience to the Versature team. Anastasia has a solid track record of over 20 years of experience bringing products to market from idea through to commercialization globally. Anastasia has held leadership, technical and marketing roles organizations such as Sandbox, Cognos, IBM, Jetform/Adobe and with technology startup companies. Anastasia is a strong advocate for women in STEM and regular keynote speaker at industry conferences.

Robin McIntyre
Robin McIntyre is a senior information technology and operations executive experienced in setting transformational strategies across various business disciplines, including technology services, consulting, healthcare and telecom sectors. She was most recently the VP, Managed Services at the The Pythian Group, a global leader in data consulting and IT managed services. In this role, she oversaw a department of 200 employees located in 51 countries. She previously held the position of Chief Transformation Officer, at the Ottawa Hospital and Regional President, Rogers Communications Inc.
A substantial portion of her career has been dedicated to roles in Technology Services, Engineering and Network Operations. In this capacity, she has been at the forefront of a number of new technology introductions that achieved significant business results. However, her most rewarding work has been building highly collaborative teams and partnerships.
Robin has received numerous awards, including the Women’s Business Network – Corporate Businesswoman of the Year, the Canadian Women in Communications – Trailblazer Award and the Rogers Engineering Award. She graduated from the University of Waterloo and holds a US/European patent. In 2010, she received her ICD designation. Robin been a corporate director and held the position of Chair at OCRI ( rebranded as Invest Ottawa ) from 2008 to 2010.
