[Ottawa] Networking Event – Are you ready to “Lean In?”

The WPT Ottawa Chapter presents a panel discussion on Facebook COO Sheryl Sandberg’s book, “Lean In.”

Whether you agree with Sandberg’s book or not, “Lean In” certainly helped reboot the debate on gender differences in the workplace. We are bringing together a group of women business leaders for a lively discussion on the book and how their experiences compare to Sandberg’s portrayal. Discussion and networking opportunities will follow the panel.

Our panel participants include:

  • Karen Williams, Vice President, BA Development, BI & Predictive Development – IBM. With more than two decades of experience in the high tech industry, Karen Williams leads the global Business Analytics Business Intelligence & Predictive Analytics Development team at IBM Software Group. Ms. Williams is responsible for the development and delivery of the analytic software that is used in organizations globally to report, analyze and predict their business results.
  • Michèle Beck, VP North American Sales – Telesat. Michèle joined Telesat in 1987 as a project engineer in the Broadband Development Group before joining the Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association. In March 2006, Michèle returned to Telesat as the Director, Engineering responsible for all satellite service before being promoted to VP, NA Sales in the enterprise, government, carrier, reseller and broadcast markets. Michèle also currently Vice-Chair of the Canadian Chapter of the International Institute of Communications (IIC).
  • Heidi Hauver, HR evangelist – Pythian. Heidi’s energetic leadership and sponsorship of innovative HR programs have earned her industry recognition including a 2012 Ottawa Business Journal / Ottawa Chamber of Commerce Forty Under 40 Award and a 2012 CATA Information Technology Strategic HR Leadership Award.
  • Liseanne Forand, President – Shared Services Canada. As president of Shared Services Canada, Liseanne is responsible for information technology (IT) infrastructure services across the Government of Canada. Before joining Shared Services Canada, Liseanne served as Senior Associate Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development and Chief Operating Officer for Service Canada from 2009 to 2011.
